Michaels Jewelers sponsors an annual Mothers Day Jewelry Design Contest for 5th Grade Students throughout Connecticut. This past year, over 1,600 students participated.
Students in each class receive a "Designer Certificate" recognizing their efforts, signed by both the teacher and Michaels Jewelers. Within each class, one student is selected as a winner and his/her design is crafted into jewelry, which can be presented to "mom" on Mothers Day. Michaels gives over 60 items created by our student designers!
We at Michaels enjoy sponsoring every one of our community programs, most of which are tied to educational venues. However, none create such enthusiasm and joy than our 5th grade Mothers Day Art Contest. We believe we’ve found an ingenious way to encourage both family values and artistic design to students in their most formidable years.
